Project: Custom Remote-Controlled Flying Blue Whale
Date: March 2026
Location: Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Client: A Middle Eastern destination-entertainment and aquarium experience operator
Application: Indoor ocean-themed attraction, school-holiday event program, and commercial visitor activation
For a large indoor ocean-themed attraction in Dubai, the client wanted an aerial centerpiece with enough scale to command attention in a high-ceiling venue. The goal was not simply to install an inflatable decoration, but to create a moving blue whale that could bring the exhibition to life above visitors.
HAFE developed a customized Remote-Controlled Flying Blue Whale with a vivid blue-and-silver marine finish. Designed for commercial indoor operation, the whale combined lightweight aluminum-film construction, high-definition printed surface detail, and a choice of remote-control systems suited to different performance requirements.
At up to 6 meters long in the professional configuration, the flying blue whale delivered the visual scale the client needed while preserving the flexibility to tailor graphics, color, motion effects, and control technology to the project.

The client needed an aerial attraction capable of performing in a demanding, public-facing venue.
- Large-scale visual impact
The whale needed to remain visible and impressive across a broad exhibition hall, including from upper-level viewing areas. - Stable flight in air-conditioned spaces
Indoor HVAC airflow could disrupt a basic flying inflatable and create an inconsistent visitor-facing performance. - A premium display finish
The whale required realistic marine artwork, strong color reproduction, and a surface appropriate for commercial lighting and photography. - Reliable repeat-use performance
The product needed an efficient helium envelope, durable materials, and a stable power configuration for ongoing operation. - Flexible operating choices
The client wanted a standard model for everyday displays and an upgraded model for scheduled professional demonstrations. - Expandable features and branding
Future versions needed to accommodate logos, campaign artwork, lighting, moving tail fins, bubbles, and other show effects.
HAFE provided two Remote-Controlled Flying Blue Whale configurations, giving the client a practical choice between straightforward daily operation and a higher-performance show system.
The Elementary Blue Whale is intended for basic remote-controlled flight in calm indoor environments. The Professional Blue Whale uses a model-aircraft flight-control system with gyro stabilization, offering a more stable response in larger spaces or venues with noticeable indoor airflow.
This distinction is critical in commercial applications. Many lower-cost flying inflatables rely only on throttle and directional controls. Under air-conditioning currents, they may drift, become difficult to position, or risk making contact with walls, ceilings, displays, or other venue structures.
HAFE’s professional model includes a gyro-stabilization system that helps the whale maintain a steadier flight attitude, hover more consistently, and respond more predictably to airflow changes. The additional flight-control hardware, engineering integration, and tuning make this version appropriate for professional performances, exhibitions, and high-visibility branded events.

Technical note: Advanced upgrades are available only for the model-aircraft flight-controller version. For internal illumination, a white base film may be required to achieve the intended lighting result.
The HAFE Flying Blue Whale is constructed from PP + PA aluminum film, selected for its balance of weight, airtightness, and graphic quality.
Compared with ordinary PVC or standard nylon fabric, the aluminum-film envelope is lighter for helium-supported flight and provides improved airtightness to support longer helium retention. The surface is also suitable for high-precision printing, allowing realistic whale textures, underwater artwork, sponsor branding, and custom promotional graphics.
For long-term projects or more demanding applications, HAFE can provide specialty nylon or composite-coated material upgrades. These materials offer improved resistance to wear and UV aging. With appropriate maintenance and storage, selected materials can achieve a service life of approximately 3-5 years or longer.
The professional model can be configured with a range of integrated show functions:
- Tail-fin movement
- Bubble blowing
- LED lighting and light-show effects
- Gold-powder effects
- Stunt-flight capability
- Custom motion, sound, lighting, or branding features
These features require additional mechanical structures, circuits, power management, flight balancing, and tuning. HAFE evaluates them as part of the complete airship design to help preserve controlled flight performance.
“The blue whale gave the venue a sense of scale that floor-level displays could not achieve. Guests saw it immediately when they entered."
“The professional flight-control system mattered to us because the hall uses powerful air-conditioning. The whale’s movement was much more controlled during programmed sessions."
“The printed marine artwork looked excellent under our lighting and created a strong photo opportunity for families."
“HAFE was able to discuss both the visual design and the operating requirements, which helped us make a better decision for the event."

Yes. It is intended primarily for indoor exhibitions, aquariums, shopping malls, event halls, museums, themed attractions, and brand activations.
For larger spaces or venues with noticeable air-conditioning airflow, HAFE recommends the professional gyro-stabilized configuration.
The elementary version uses standard remote control for basic directional movement and altitude adjustment.
The professional version includes a model-aircraft flight controller with gyro stabilization. It is designed to provide smoother flight, steadier hovering, and more predictable response in indoor airflow conditions.
The professional version requires higher-specification flight-control hardware, a gyro-stabilization system, integration work, balancing, setup, and tuning. These elements support repeatable performance in demanding commercial venues.
Yes. The elementary configuration is available from 2.6 to 3.0 meters, while the professional configuration can be produced from 3.2 to 6.0 meters. HAFE can also assess custom dimensions based on the venue and selected functions.
Yes. HAFE supports custom size, color, pattern, logo placement, and high-precision surface artwork. The whale can be adapted for an exhibition theme, sponsor campaign, retail promotion, or seasonal event.
Yes. The professional configuration can support tail-fin movement, bubble blowing, lighting effects, gold-powder effects, stunt-flight features, and other custom show functions.
The standard envelope uses PP + PA aluminum film. It is lighter than common PVC or nylon alternatives, offers improved airtightness for longer helium retention, and provides a smooth surface for commercial-quality printing.
Helium retention depends on the size, selected material, temperature, handling, storage conditions, and frequency of use. The aluminum-film envelope is designed to offer stronger airtightness than many conventional inflatable materials.
Yes. HAFE develops multi-joint and multi-motor products such as six-segment snakes, T-Rex characters, reindeer with sleds, and large dragon airships.
These products require more advanced R&D, structural assembly, power integration, balancing, and flight tuning than standard airships. HAFE’s 13-meter dragon is a particularly cost-effective option for projects requiring major visual scale.
For standard small-batch customization, typical production lead time is approximately 1-2 weeks. Complex structures, advanced effects, and new character development may require additional engineering and testing time.
HAFE develops professional flying displays for customers who need more than novelty. Each product is designed to combine visual impact with practical indoor performance.
